SYNOPSIS
Frank, Eddie and Chris are childhood friends who grew up in a close-knit, blue-collar, Philadelphia neighborhood. Frank is an all-around good guy who is head-over-heels in love with Barbra, a gorgeous knockout of a young, sexy, street-smart, woman. Their relationship escalates to a more serious level when Barbra tells Frank that she is pregnant with his child. Frank, being a family man is ecstatic and asks Barbra immediately to marry him. She says yes, and Frank is on top of the world. However, Frank is unaware that Barbra and Eddie are having a secret affair behind his back. When Eddie gets into gambling debts with the Philadelphia mafia, he decides to rob a jewelry store and convinces Barbra to set up Frank to take the fall. Things don't go as smoothly as planned and Chris, a neighborhood cop and the mob fence, end up dead. Eddie shoots Frank in the back and makes off to Miami Beach with the money, the jewels and Barbra. Frank is left to struggle back from the devastating injury in a prison hospital while under the unblinking gaze of Evelyn, the homicide detective assigned to the case. Meanwhile, Barbra and Eddie are in Miami Beach and living the extravagant, decadent lifestyle they've always wanted. However, Barbra begins to have second thoughts about her shallow relationship with Eddie and they quickly drift apart. At the same time, Frank begins to develop an unlikely bond with Evelyn as they come to understand one another on a more intimate level. Things come to a head when Barbra returns to Philadelphia with the jewels, hoping to reconcile with Frank. Eddie, in a fit of jealous rage, puts a stop to Barbra's romantic delusions. He finds her at Frank's house and forces her to reveal the location of the jewels by threatening the life of her infant son. Frank and Evelyn arrive just as Eddie shoots Barbra. An explosive chase ensues through the streets of Philadelphia leading to the final, climatic confrontation between Frank and Eddie.
